Mike Gibbons was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 20, 1887. His first professional fight was on December 1, 1907 a win over Newsboy Brown. On May 18, 1916 Gibbons defeated Ted "Kid" Lewis to win a claim for the middleweight title. Gibbons fought and defeated many important fighters including Harry Greb, Mike O'Dowd, Jack Dillon, Jeff Smith, Eddie McGoorty and Jimmy Clabby. He retired after defeating Danny Fagan on May 16, 1922. His final record is 65-3-4. Gibbons passed away in 1931.
