On February 18, 1974 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Canada British Commonwealth Welterweight Champion Clyde Gray defended his title against Bunny Grant. Gray stopped Grant in the 8th round. "Commonwealth welterweight champion Clyde Gray retained his crown in his first title defense, scoring a 9th round TKO over Bunny Grant of Jamaica. Gray severely pummeled Grant in the 6th round and Manager Felix Smith said Grant suffered abdominal injuries during the beating which kept him in the corner after the 8th round. Gray staggered Grant with a solid left hook in the 2nd round which pushed the challenger into the ropes and in the 6th round he unleashed a combination which floored Grant." -United Press International.
