On June 12, 1964 at the Convention Center in Las Vegas world welterweight champion Emile Griffith defended his title against an old nemesis, Luis Rodriguez. In their three prior meetings Griffith had won twice with Rodriguez taking one. All were highly contested. This fourth meeting was no different. Rodriguez was penalized one point for a low blow in the 3rd round. It proved critical as Griffith won a very close 15 round split decision to retain his title. Offered here is an original wire photo depicting action during this fight. This is an Associated Press wire photo with their stamp on back and caption on front. Bold, clear image.
