On June 15, 1927 at the Polo Grounds in New York welterweights Louis "Kid" Kaplan and Jackie Fields fought in an important divisional matchup. Kaplan prevailed winning a ten round decision. On the undercard Sid Terris knocked out Ruby Goldstein in the first round, Sammy Baker stopped Ace Hudkins in the 7th round and Billy Wallace won a ten round decision over Billy Petrolle.
