Issy Kline enjoyed a short career as a professional fighter, but is best remembered as a trainer of some of the sports best. During his career Kline trained Buddy Baer, Ezzard Charles, Chuck Davey, Ken Overlin, Barney Ross, Lee Savold, Tony Zale and worked with Sugar Ray Robinson as he prepared for his historic fight with Jake LaMotta in 1951. Offered here is a one page letter from Kline to former fighter Fred Saddy congratulating Saddy on his appointment as Boxing Commissioner in Wisconsin. Boldly signed by Kline and dated December 2, 1949.
This is a one page, typed, letter on International Boxing Club letterhead. Bold, clear type. Boldly signed in ink by Issy Kline. Includes original folds. Clean front and back. Edge wear and several closed tears with no paper loss. 8 1/2" x 11." Rare, the first we have seen.
