HISTORY: On July 12, 1950 World Middleweight Champion Jake LaMotta made his first title defense against rugged Tiberio Mitri at Madison Square Garden in New York. LaMotta banged out a 15 round decision to retain the crown he had taken from Marcel Cerdan in 1949.
