On July 12, 1950 World Middleweight Champion Jake LaMotta made his first title defense against rugged Tiberio Mitri at Madison Square Garden in New York. LaMotta banged out a 15 round decision to retain the crown he had taken from Marcel Cerdan in 1949. Presented here is an antique original wire photo from this bout depicting LaMotta landing a long left jab on the face of Mitri. This is an original International News Photos wire photo with their stamp and caption on the back. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Mild crease in upper left corner. Edge and corner wear. 6" x 8."
