HISTORY: Tippy "Slug" Larkin was a Welterweight fighter who fought from 1935 thru 1952 and compiled an impressive career record of 136-15-1. Larkin was born Anthony Pilleteri, and took the name Tippy from the initials for Tony Pilleteri. He got Larkin from his older brother, Frank, who boxed professionally as Bobby Larkin. Larkin began his career on March 14, 1935 with a loss to Ed McGillick. He went on to fight some of the biggest names in the sport including: Henry Armstrong, Billy Graham, Jackie "Kid" Berg, Al "Bummy" Davis, Freddie Cochrane, and Beau Jack. On September 12, 1946 he defeated Willie Joyce to win the vacant World Junior Welterweight Title. His last fight was on December 29, 1952, a loss to Steve Marcello. Tippy Larkin died on December 10, 1991.

Signed in ink on the front, "To Jerry Best Wishes Sincerely Tippy Larkin," and on the reverse, "My most thrilling was when I defeated Willie Joyce for the Jr. Welterweight Title back in 1946." Not creased or torn. Clean without staining. 3" x 5."
