HISTORY: Joe Louis was born on May 13, 1914 in Lafayette, Alabama. On June 22, 1937 he won the World Heavyweight Title from James J. Braddock. He held the title until 1948, the longest reign in boxing history. In addition to Jim Braddock, Louis posted victories over Max Schmeling, Jersey Joe Walcott, Billy Conn and John Henry Lewis among many more. He retired after losing to Rocky Marciano on October 26, 1951. His final record was 63-3.
