HISTORY: On December 5, 1947 at Madison Square Garden in New York heavyweight champion Joe Louis defended his title against "Jersey" Joe Walcott in the main event. Louis was knocked down in the first and fourth rounds, but at the end of the 15th he was awarded a highly controversial split decision.
