On September 24, 1935, heavyweights Joe Louis and Max Baer entered the ring with their careers going in opposite directions. Louis, undefeated, was a rising star in the division. Baer, the former heavyweight champion, was trying to rebound from his stunning loss to Jimmy Braddock a few months earlier. Louis demolished the former champ and knocked him out in the 4th round.
