Joe Louis was born on May 13, 1914 in Lafayette, Alabama. On June 22, 1937 he won the World Heavyweight Title from James J. Braddock. Louis held the title longer than any heavyweight in history. His notable victories included Max Schmeling, Max Baer, Billy Conn, Jersey Joe Walcott, Jack Sharkey and Primo Carnera.He retired after losing to Rocky Marciano on October 26, 1951. His final record was 63-3. Offered here is a souvenir clock of Joe Louis that dates to the late 1930's after he won the heavyweight title.
This bronze clock has a wondeful likeness of Louis at the top. Under the clock is engraved, "JOE LOUIS WORLD CHAMPION." This is a working clock made by United. A few minor rubs. Presents very well. 12 1/2" high.
