HISTORY & DESCRIPTION: This is an original, type 1 photograph depicting Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson on August 17, 1943 at Fort Devers, Massachusetts. Robinson had entered the U.S. Army in January, 1943 and teamed up with Joe Louis to do a series of boxing exhibitions to support the war effort. Also included was middleweight Jimmy Edgar who is also pictured. This original, first generation photograph was taken by photographer Hart Preston. Bold, clear image. Clean without staining. Small corner creases at lower corners. No tears. 8" x 10." Encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA with their cert # 85451884.
