LOUIS, JOE & TONY GALENTO WIRE PHOTO (1939 AT BAER-NOVA FIGHT)
On June 28, 1939 World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis defended his title against Tony Galento at Yankee Stadium in New York. Galento, a hard punching rough and tumble sort, knocked Louis down early in the fight. Louis recovered and administered a ferocious beating on "Two Ton" Tony before stopping him in the fourth round. Offered here is an original wire photo depicting Joe Louis being stared down by Tony Galento as they attended the Max Baer-Lou Nova fight on June 1, 1939, only weeks before they would meet. This is an original ACME NEWSPICTURES wire photo with their stamp and caption on the back. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Tiny crease in upper right corner. No tears. 7" x 9."
