On January 20, 2001 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas world super featherweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. defended his title against Diego Corrales. Mayweather, Jr. stopped Corrales in the 10th round. Corrales corner threw in the towel after Diego was knocked down for the fifth time.
