William McClellan was a professional boxer born in New York in 1848. His career spanned from 1876 to 1891. During his career he defeated Mike Donovan and also fought Billy Edwards. He later became a boxing instructor at Wood's Gym in New York. McClellan passed away in 1905. Offered here is a rare, first generation photograph of William McClellan take at the height of his career in the early 1880's.
