MCMURTRY, "IRISH" PAT SIGNED PHOTO

HISTORY: "Irish" Pat McMurtry Pat was born in Tacoma, WA on Jan. 5th 1932 and passed away April 17, 2011 after a short bout with cancer. Pat was one of Tacoma's most recognized athletes as an amateur and professional boxer. He was inducted in both the Washington and Pierce County Hall of Fames. His proudest athletic memories were filling Lincoln Bowl to capacity for his two home town fights and his victory over George Chuvalo in a nationally televised bout in Madison Square Garden. McMurtry fought from 1954 until 1959. In addition to his victory over Chuvalo he also defeated Ezzard Charles, Bobo Olson, Charley Norkus, and Howard King.
