HISTORY: On March 18, 1947 at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles light heavyweights Archie Moore and Jack Chase battled in a featured bout. Moore knocked Chase out in the 9th round. 

This was a fairly one-sided matchup, other than the 3rd round. In that round Chase landed a right to the chin, which floored Moore for a seven count. Chase suffered a bad cut on the side of his right eye in the 4th round. In the 9th, Moore landed a right uppercut which floored Chase. Referee Johnny Indrisano did not bother to count, and instead helped Chase's corner assist their fallen man to his corner. Attendance: was 4,500. This was the 6th and final meeting of these two. The series stood at 4-1-1 favoring Moore, following this bout.
