On March 4, 1961 at the Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada Sugar Ray Robinson and Gene Fullmer fought for the 4th and final time with Fullmer's middleweight title on the line. In their three previous meetings each had a win and their third fight in 1960 ended in a draw. In this fight Fullmer retained his title winning a unanimous 15 round decision over the aging Robinson. Offered here are actual training worn trunks used by Sugar Ray Robinson for this bout. Robinson has signed and inscribed the trunks and dated then the day of the fight.
These are original, white satin with black trim boxing trunks with a manufacturer's tag for G & S Sporting Goods of New York on the front center waistband. Size 34. Signed in ink on front right leg, "Best Wishes Stephy Sugar Ray Robinson Las Vegas 3-4-61." Trunks are intact showing heavy wear and some minor staining. Given to friend of Robinson family on the day of the fight. Comes with our full letter of authenticity.
