HISTORY: On September 23, 1937 at the Polo Grounds in New York City four championship bouts were conducted under the promotional banner of Carnival of Champions. The fights included Lou Ambers defending the Lightweight Title with a 15 round decision over Pedro Montanez; Barney Ross defending the Welterweight Title with a 15 round decision over Ceferino Garcia; Freddie Apostoli winning the Middleweight Title stopping champion Marcel Thil in 10 rounds; Harry Jeffra winning the Bantamweight Title by 15 round decision over champion Sixto Escobar. Presented here is an official, full, unused ticket to this historic night of great fights.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This full, unused, official ticket features the name of each fighter in each championship bout. The section, row and seat assignment are noted. The ticket is clean front and back. Ornate design on reverse. No creases or writing of any kind. Minor tear at top right corner with no paper loss. Stub firmly attached. Slight rounding of corners. 2 3/4" x 7 1/4".
