HISTORY & FULL DESCRIPTION: John L. Sullivan and Herbert Slade fought in New York City in 1881 and 1883. They also did several other exhibitions there in the early 1880's. On this occasion following the exhibition John L. Sullivan and Herbert Slade appeared at Harry Hill's Theatre along with lightweight boxers Jimmy Kelly and Jerry Murphy. Harry Hill's was a saloon at the corner of Houston Street and Crosby Street in New York City until 1886, dating this event prior to that date.
Offered here is a rare, original broadside/poster announcing the appearance of John L. Sullivan and Herbert Slade at Harry Hill's Theatre.
This a paper broadside/poster. Bold color and print. Some fading at the borders. Archival tape on back of lower border which has a tear and at the back upper corners. Clean. Has original folds. Two small pin holes at center. Minor corner wear. 6" x 9."
Exceedingly rare.
