Joe Tipman was born on June 7, 1883 in Baltimore, Maryland. He fought his first fight as a featherweight on June 4, 1899, a win over Kid Frog. Although never a champion Tipman fought some significant fighters including draws with George Dixon, Eddie Lenny and Kid Williams, a win over Joe Bernstein and a loss to Young Corbett II. He retired after a loss to Harry Scroggs on March 20, 1907 with a final mark of 43-15-9. Joe Tipman passed away on January 17, 1966.
