HISTORY: On April 2, 1963 at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Texas heavyweights Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams and Young Jack Johnson fought in the featured bout. Williams stopped Johnson in the 10th round.

"Heavyweight contender Cleveland Williams scored a costly TKO over Young Jack Johnson Tuesday night with 2:01 gone in the final round of a scheduled 10 rounder. Williams outboxed his huskier opponent all the way but was given the 1st round by referee Jimmy Webb who penalized Johnson for a low blow. Johnson refused to wait for the bell and stalked over to hem Williams in his corner at the start of each round. They exchanged four punches before the bell sounded to open the 9th. The only knockdown came in the 5th when Williams caught Johnson with a booming right followed by a left hook to send the former California champion down for an eight count. The end came when Williams threw a long left hook and moved in with a right to knock Johnson into the ropes. He was pounding Johnson when the referee stopped the fight." -Associated Press. After the bout had ended, Johnson walked across the ring and tagged Williams with a left hook. Cornermen had to step in when Johnson tried to attack Williams with a chair in the dressing room after the bout. Offered here is an original wire photo depicting action during this fight.
